Charise Catarina Pohl is a Canadian Soprano from Nova Scotia. She is a classical singer/songwriter and opera performer. Singing and performing are her passion. She completed her Undergraduate Degree at Dalhousie with a Bachelor of Music Performance and her Master’s Degree of Music in Opera Performance from the University of British Columbia. She recently came back from China touring the opera Thunderstorm by Emily Pan. Charise participated in the Canadian Arts Vocal Institute in Montreal, the Island Summer Music Intensive in British Columbia, C.O.S.A. in New Brunswick and Opera Nuova ‘s Mansfield Park in Edmonton. She also
performed in Rusalka by Dvořák in Teplice, Czech Republic.
Her credits include Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, James Rolfe’s Aeneas and Dido, Die Fledermaus by Strauss, The Cunning Little Vixen by Leoš Janáček, Cendrillon by Massenet, Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni, Street Scene by Kurt Weill, Cozi Fan Tutti by Mozart, and Manon by Jules Massenet.
Charise is currently studying with Jason Davis and hold her own produced concerts in Manitoba and Nova Scotia with guest artists. She is starting her own Opera Company “Tamid Opera and Music” with U of T graduate Chloé Dionne Launching in Fall 2026. Táimid’s Focus will be on creating new Canadian music and sustainable long-term jobs for singers, performers and composers.
Soprano Chloé Dionne is a Toronto-based artist originally from Nova Scotia whose work spans classical vocal performance, new music, songwriting and interdisciplinary collaboration. Deeply connected to Atlantic Canada, she has performed extensively throughout Nova Scotia as a vocalist, musician, and songwriter.
Chloé holds a Bachelor of Music from the Fountain School of Performing Arts, where she appeared as Helen in Michael Rose’s operetta A Northern Lights Dream, and as the schoolteacher/mosquito in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen. While at the Fountain School, she was selected to participate in a recording production workshop with artist, songwriter, and producer Erin Costello, performing her original song They’ll See with a full band. In 2023, she received the 15th annual Georg Tintner Prize for her performance of No Word from Tom from Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress.
She recently completed her Master of Music in vocal performance at the University of Toronto under the guidance of Nathalie Paulin. During her studies, she worked closely with composers Ian Cusson, Reza Vali, Britta Johnson, coach and pianists Liz Upchurch, Steven Philcox, Frédérique Vézina, and baritone Alain Coulombe. While at U of T, she won the Experience France Award and had the opportunity to study in France with singer and dramaturge Anne Constantin, had the chance to perform and workshop her own songs.
Chloé is particularly drawn to interdisciplinary and collaborative projects. Under the name Mediocre Creature, she creates watercolour and digital artwork inspired by music. She recently collaborated with the Bedford Trio on an animated work paired with a new piece by composer Calvin Dvorsky for their IMMERSED 4.0 concert and looks forward to participating in its next iteration.
In 2025, she participated in Opera from Scratch, where composer Nicholas Ma wrote the comic opera Claw & Order specifically for her.
Chloé is committed to amplifying diverse Canadian voices through her performing and curatorial work. She is co-founder of TÁIMID Opera & Music, through which she has co-organized projects including Musical Roots at The Carleton and in Wolfville, as well as a Classical Christmas Concert in Dartmouth, all in collaboration with co-founder Charise Pohl.
